I am currently a Deputy Headteacher in a split site Key Stage two primary school, leading on raising standards in reading. I have been teaching since 2002, having worked in schools in Southwark and Lambeth across Key Stage 1 and keystage two.
I am passionate about teaching and learning and about using pedagogical approaches which accelerate progress and engage and excite teachers and children. I am also highly enthusiastic about children’s literature; when we designed the integrated curriculum approach in our schools, we ensured that it was built upon the foundations of high quality texts.
I have a proven record as an outstanding classroom practitioner. I have been fortunate enough to receive inspiring training including Pie Corbett Talk 4 Writing, CLPE Power of Reading and Hackney Learning Trust Destination Reader. I have also had the privilege to work with some amazing Teaching and Learning Consultants, all off which has developed my own subject knowledge and teaching practice, as well as my ability to be able to lead and develop expertise in others.
Through my roles as Lambeth Lead Teacher, Advanced Skills Teacher, Literacy Coordinator, Year Leader and Deputy Headteacher, I have extensive experience in supporting, mentoring and training NQTs, teachers and middle leaders in my own and in other schools, to improve teaching and learning and middle leadership in in my subject area.
