Our School Direct Programme
Good Honours degree (2:2 or above) from a United Kingdom Higher Education Institution or an equivalent qualification from abroad. It does not have to be a National Curriculum subject.
GCSE grade C/4 or above in English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject. Alternatively, we will accept equivalency tests from Equivalency Testing or A*Star Equivalency only in the above subjects. Please note that the science equivalency test MUST be in combined science. All equivalency tests must be passed by 1 May before your training starts.
If you’ve got qualifications from outside the UK, you’ll need to get a statement of comparability from NARIC. This can take some time so you should do this before you send in your application.
QTS Skills Tests
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Skills Tests in Literacy and Numeracy must be passed before 1 May before your training starts.
Candidates can book their skills tests once they have submitted their application through UCAS Teacher Training. They can book in advance of this as long as an application is submitted before they attend the test centre.
What you need to bring
Two forms of identification – a primary ID such as a passport, and a secondary ID this can be for example a debit card.
You'll also need to bring proof of your teacher training application. The evidence that will be accepted are:
a welcome email from UCAS Teacher Training
correspondence from your school or university
a copy of a completed UCAS Teacher Training application form
confirmation of, or an invitation to, an interview from your school or university
We strongly recommend that candidates have some recent experience in a primary school before starting the training year.
