Since joining Gipsy Hill Federation in 2007, I have been fortunate enough to have worked in a range of teaching and learning, and leadership roles.
Currently, I am Director of Gipsy Hill Federation Teaching School Alliance with responsibility for planning and developing CPLD opportunities for all of our teachers and leaders. As an SLE, I use the skills and experience I have acquired in this role when working with staff at all levels of leadership to develop their capacity and own leadership specialisms.
I am also a Deputy Headteacher, and have worked at our Elm Wood site for a number of years in this capacity, before working across all six of our schools as a pan-Federation Deputy Headteacher developing teaching and learning opportunities amongst staff and pupils throughout the primary phase.
I am passionate about developing purposeful and meaningful talk opportunities for pupils across the curriculum, and used this as a focus for my Masters in Education studies. As part of my pan-federation Deputy Headteacher role, I was able to implement my research findings by introducing philosophy and critical thinking opportunities across the curriculum, and supporting teachers and leaders with the training needs this generated.
Before my move in to school leadership I taught in Year 6 for many years, leading our team across a then-smaller Gipsy Hill Federation and working with teachers in other Lambeth schools as an Advanced Skills Teacher.
