I have experience teaching and leading in Key Stage One and the Early Years Foundation Stage. Whilst teaching in KS1, I led my year two team to confidently and effectively implement the new national curriculum and assessment arrangements, focusing on depth of learning across the curriculum and embedding the teaching of grammar in our learning across the curriculum.
I also supported in the successful development and implementation of our creative curriculum in year two. I developed long and medium term plans to ensure the development of skills in all areas of learning over the year and to ensure our children were ready to make the transition to Key Stage Two.
I am completing a masters in Primary Education and, as part of it, am exploring continuity of curriculum and pedagogy in the transition from the EYFS to KS1. Based on my research and experience teaching reception and year one, we have developed a new, play-based approach to transition to build on the skills children have developed in the EYFS which I presented to the senior leadership team and am implementing ready for September.
